Our Work in Education & Learning
Guiding everything we do at My Child Your Child Ministries. The Principles That Guide Our Mission of Love, Justice, and Transformation.
Problem Statement:
In Uganda, access to quality education remains a significant challenge, especially for children living in poverty-stricken communities. Over 57% of children do not complete primary school, and only a small percentage of those who begin secondary school graduate. Many children are forced to drop out of school due to a lack of resources such as school fees, uniforms, and basic school supplies. The situation is even more dire for children in slums and rural areas, where families are unable to afford the basic necessities of life, let alone education. In addition to financial barriers, children often face neglect, abuse, or abandonment, which further hinders their ability to thrive academically. These challenges contribute to a cycle of poverty, where children who do not receive an education are left without the skills or opportunities to improve their future prospects.

The Solution We Provide:
At My Child Your Child Ministries, we are dedicated to breaking this cycle by providing children with the education they deserve. Our programs focus on offering holistic support to both children and their families to ensure that education becomes a reality for every child we serve. Here’s how we’re addressing the problem:
-
School Sponsorships: Through our school sponsorship program, we provide children with the opportunity to attend school by covering their tuition fees, uniforms, and school supplies. This ensures that children from underserved communities can access education without the burden of financial constraints.
-
Tutoring and Support: We offer additional academic support and tutoring to children who may be struggling in school. Our dedicated volunteers and educators work one-on-one with these students to improve their learning outcomes and boost their confidence.
-
Vocational Training: For older children and youth, we provide vocational training programs to equip them with practical skills that will help them secure employment and become self-sufficient. These programs focus on skills such as tailoring, carpentry, mechanics, and digital literacy.
-
Safe Learning Spaces: We ensure that all the children we serve have access to safe and nurturing environments where they can learn and grow. This includes providing safe spaces in our community centers and churches for children to study, engage in extracurricular activities, and receive mentorship.
-
Spiritual Development: Education is not only academic but also spiritual. We integrate Christian values into our teaching programs, encouraging children to grow in their faith and understand the importance of love, respect, and kindness towards others.
-
Community Outreach and Family Support: We also engage with families to raise awareness about the importance of education and encourage them to support their children’s learning. We provide counseling, parenting workshops, and other resources to help families strengthen their support for their children’s education.
By providing education, mentorship, and practical support, My Child Your Child Ministries is giving children in Uganda the tools they need to succeed academically and to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. With your support, we can continue to transform lives through the power of education.
